A Five-Year Plan for 9 Lines of Rapid Transit System, High Raised in T&L Segments

A tiresome situation for city people, but a promising convenience in the next five year from Rapid Transit System. People and transportation and logistics segment are all happy.

Bangkok rapid transit system has been running since 1999. The two lines that were first in operation were the Dark Green Line (National Stadium ↔ Wongwian Yai) and the Light Green Line (Onnut ↔ Mo Chit) of Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as BTS Skytrain.

Later, the transit system were expanded to a total of five lines:

BTS’s Dark Green Line (National Stadium ↔ Bang Wa)

BTS’s Light Green Line (Samrong ↔ Mo Chit)

MRT (Hua Lamphong ↔ Tao Poon)

MRT (Khlong Bang Phai ↔ Tao Poon)

Airport Rail Link (Phaya Thai ↔ Suvarnabhumi Airport)

However, these five lines are still unable to support over 9 million people living in the city, which is growing rapidly. Thus, the authority has set a five years plan to establish a total of nine lines in this period.

The Yellow Line from Lat Phrao to Sam Rong will be a parallel line with the Green Line, but in the opposite side of the city. The line runs through Lat Phrao to Srinagarindra Road. This line also is expected to be fully operated in 2021.

2023 (1 Line)

The concessions will be provided to various companies that has won the auction on each line, such as, BTS, BEM, or MRTA etc. Some of the companies has already begun their construction on each line, while the auction for the remaining lines is in the process.

Bangkok will become one of the most high technology city sooner or later, while there are not many companies who run business in communication systems and constructions. A consideration of stocking these shares would not have done any harm.
