Thai Energy Reform Demands an Annulment of PTTEP’s Concession in Bongkot-Erawan Fields

Today, Thai Energy Reform has submitted a complaint to Thai PM to nullify the bidding of Nongkot-Erawan fields that previously announced PTTEP as the winner.

PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) is about to encounter another problem as Thai Energy Reform has submitted a complaint to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, requesting the PM to nullify the bidding of Bongkot-Erawan fields that PTTEP had just acquired the concession as an operator in 2022 (Erawan)-2023 (ฺBongkot).

The complaint states that the gas from both fields will be operated through PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) at lower cost and delivered to its subsidiaries, while the end users (people) still pay the same price for gas at the rate of export gas from Saudi Arabia. The Thai Energy Reform also asserts that the qualifications of the bidding were, in a way, benefiting PTTEP, hence, requesting for a nullification of the previous bidding.
