Trump Sanctions Billions of Dollars of Iranian Assets to Retaliate the Downing Drone!

Monday, June 24, 2019, Trump signed an executive order to impose sanctions on billions of dollars more in Iranian assets to retaliate the downing drone.

Last week, a U.S. drone was reportedly downed by Iran, prompting an angry comment from the U.S. President Donald Trump, followed by an order for an airstrike. However, the order was called off, asserting by the president himself that it would kill hundreds of Iranian lives and said that the talk was possible.

The tension continued to linger until Monday, June 24, 2019, Trump signed an executive order to impose sanctions on Iran, in which U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said would lock billions of dollars more in Iranian assets.

Trump told reporters the sanctions were in part a response to last week’s downing of a U.S. drone by Iran, but it was something to be done anyway (referring to sanctions). By doing this, he said it “will deny the Supreme Leader and the Supreme Leader’s office, and those closely affiliated with him and the office, access to key financial resources and support.”
