Economists See Thai July Headline Inflation Rate to Increase 1%!

Reuters poll has reported its forecast of Thailand’s annual headline inflation rate in July to increase 1% YoY when an increase of 0.87% YoY in June.


Reuters poll has reported its forecast of Thailand’s annual headline inflation rate in July to increase 1% YoY when an increase of 0.87% YoY in June.

However, by removing energy and fresh food prices, the core inflation rate in July will stand at 0.50%, compared to 0.48% in June.

In the meeting this month, the Thai central bank still left the policy rate unchanged at 1.75% after a hike of 25 basis points in last December. Meanwhile, the Bank of Thailand (BOT) has forecast 2019 headline inflation of 1%. The next monetary policy review will be on August 7, 2019 while most experts expect no policy change for the rest of this year.
