U.S. Largest Oil Refinery – ExxonMobil – Catches Fire! Still No Update on 560k Production
ExxonMobil, one of the U.S. largest oil refinery caught fire yesterday. Still, there is no update on the effect of 560k bbl/d production.
In the evening of July 31, 2019, a fire occurred at The ExxonMobil complex in Baytown, Texas, one of the largest oil refineries in the U.S. after a report of an explosion from a petrochemical unit.
The fire began after an explosion at approximately 11:07 a.m. and left 37 people with minor injuries. ExxonMobil has yet to explain the cause of this accident as well as the effect on the production of Exxon’s 560,500 bbl/day refinery plant near the site.
However, the officers in the production department told the reporter that Exxon had reduced the production from this site, but did not state how much.
The accident at ExxonMobil complex was the latest in the series of a series of petrochemical industry blazes this year after the explosion at Philadelphia Energy Solutions Refinery that forced that plant with a production capacity of 335,000 bbl/day to shutdown.
As of 12:05 local time in Thailand, WTI dropped $0.66/bbl or 1.01% to $64.39/bbl.
