Stocks in Asia saw a huge decline in the morning session on September 25, 2019, due to an uncertainty political issue in the United States after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.

The announcement of Pelosi on Tuesday came following reports of a call Trump had earlier this year with Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelensky. It had been reported that Trump allegedly pressured the Ukranian’s leader to investigate Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden’s family. Trump said afterward that he would release the full transcript of the controversial call.

As fear struck the market on Tuesday, Dow Jones plunges 142.22 points or 0.53%. S&P 500 saw the largest one-day drop since August by 0.83% and Nasdaq fell 1.46%.

The turmoil sent negative sentiment to Asian markets in the following day. As of 9:38 local time in Thailand, Nikkei dropped 0.52%, SSEC fell 0.80%, HSI sank 1.23%, ASX 200 plunged 0.64% and Kospi lost 0.73%.

SET closed on September 24, 2019, at 1,630.50 points, increased 7.71 points or 0.48% with a trading value of 50 billion baht.
