The Philippines Reports First Death from Coronavirus in a Man from Wuhan!

A 44-year old man from Wuhan died in the Philippines on February 1, 2020, from the novel coronavirus, marking the first death from the virus outside China.

According to the report from the authorities, the man arrived the Philippines on January 21, 2020, accompanying with a 38-year old woman who also had the symptoms, after travelled from Wuhan via Hong Kong. The man was hospitalized on January 25 after showing signs of the virus.

“This is the first case reported death outside China, however we need to take into mind it is not locally acquired case,” said WHO representative in Manila.

Currently, there are four people in the Philippines being tested for the virus. Meanwhile, the 38-year old woman who travelled with the man no longer shows symptoms of the virus.
