TNSC Points 2020 Year-Round Thai Exports to Grow 0-1% and Expects the 1st-Half of 2020 to Fall by 3.3%


Ghanyapad Tantipipatpong, the chairman of Thai National Shippers’ Council (TNSC) said on Tuesday that TNSC has estimated Thai exports in 2020 to grow 0 – 1% with the positive factors such as a tendency of continuous depreciation of Thai baht and a lower oil price, along with the negative factors of the concern over the Covid-19 outbreak circumstance and the drought.   

TNSC saw Thai exports narrowing down 3.6% and 2.91% in the first and second quarters respectively, driving a first half of 2020 to fall by 3.3%.

The Council has presented some measures to help shippers and business operators, such as a liquidity measure, like a six-month low-interest loans, a packing credit repayment extension for 12 months, a suspension of debt payments and banking fees for 12 months and a omission of excise tax and withholding tax for 3%.
