SET Barely Breathes after a Slump upon News over 3 Additional Deaths from COVID-19.


The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index faced a huge selloff right after a jump of 4% at the open to remain slightly higher by 0.74% as of 10:50 local time in Thailand.

 

At the open on March 24, 2020, SET Index made a rebound from yesterday’s slump to jump 42.56 points or 4.15% to 1,067.02 points with a trading value of 2.86 billion baht.

However, the market started to plummet at a constant rate after the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) announced an additional 122 cases and 3 deaths, raising the total confirmed cases to 827 with a total of 4 deaths.

The Thai cabinet will hold a meeting today and stimulus plans to support the economy amid the virus outbreak are expected.
