Trump Signs the Bill to Sanction China over the Mistreat of Uighur by Chinese Officials.

The U.S. President Donald Trump has signed the legislation calling for sanctions on China over the report of repression of the Chinese Muslim minority or Uighur.

The United Nations had made an estimation that more than a million of Uighurs were being detained in camps in the Xinjiang region. Meanwhile, the U.S. state Department accused Chinese officials of torturing and abusing these minorities. While the sanctions aimed to pressure China for a better treatment for Uighurs at the camps. However, the Chinese officials denied the accusation, asserting that the camps provided vocational training.

Trump issued a signing statement that some of the bill’s requirements might limit his constitutional authority to conduct diplomacy. In this case, Trump stated that he would regard them as advisory, not mandatory.
