Global Covid-19 Deaths Top 2 Million amid Rapid Roll Out of Vaccines.


The global coronavirus cases tally topped 94.3 million as of Saturday, January 16, 2021, while the death toll reached 2 million worldwide, with the U.S. leading the world in both categories.

 

The U.S. reported 248,000 new daily cases on Friday with an additional 3,805 deaths. The country has the most total coronavirus cases and deaths in the world with 24.1 million confirmed cases and 401,856 deaths.

Meanwhile, Thailand recorded a total of 11,450 cases as of yesterday, but the fatalities were stable at 69.

COVID-19 situation in Europe is still a concern after Germany extended lockdown by 8-10 weeks, even though the government has started vaccinating people in the late of December. However, the situation has deteriorated as the number of people infected with the Covid-19 virus has increased together with the found people infected with the new virus strain in the country can spread faster than the original species.
