SET Jumps 15pts at the Open as U.S. to Order 100 Million Doses of Vaccine from Moderna

SET Jumped 15pts at the Opening Bell as the U.S. to Order 100 Million Doses of Vaccine from Moderna.

SET Index jumped 15 points at the opening bell on August 13, 2020, following a surge in Wall Street overnight led by tech-heavy companies in Nasdaq Composite.

SET Index rose 14.99 points or 1.12% to 1,351.83 points at the open after the Nasdaq Composite led the market in gain by 2.13% over the night, followed by a 1.40% increase in S&P 500 and a gain of 1.05% in Dow Jones.

Investors in the U.S. market shrugged off uncertainties over the problematic second coronavirus relief bill that Americans were saying the bill had turned into a political standoff between the Congress and the Democrats.

Meanwhile, the U.S. President Donald Trump said last night that the government will purchase 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccine from Moderna, which is currently in late-stage human trials. The hopes in finding a vaccine also lifted the market sentiment in today’s session as well.
