U.S. Expects a Covid-Free Nation in 2021 after Pfizer-Moderna Report Effective Vaccine

U.S. Expects a to be Covid-Free Nation in 2021 after Pfizer-Moderna Report Effectiveness in Their Vaccine Development.

The U.S. is expecting to end the pandemic in 2021 after two American biotechnology companies reported more than 90% effectiveness of their coronavirus vaccines.

Earlier this month, Pfizer Inc, the U.S. pharmaceutical company, and German pharmaceutical company BioNTech announced earlier today that the results of the experiment indicate that the coronavirus vaccine, jointly developed by the two companies, is more than 90% effective against Covid-19 for those who have never been infected before.

The announcement boosted global stock markets to one of the best weeks since the coronavirus outbreak, especially the Dow Jones that made a record high last week.

Yesterday, Moderna, an American biotechnology company, reported that its coronavirus vaccine is 94.5% effective in a large trial.

If both vaccines are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. would have as many as 60 million doses of vaccine available by December.

Dr. Scott Gottlieb, a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioner in the Trump administration, told CNBC that the devastating coronavirus pandemic could “effectively” be ended next year, following promising developments around Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine.

“Once we get these vaccines in sufficient qualities heading in 2021, the combination of the fact that a lot of the population will have already had Covid, combined with the fact that we’ll be vaccinating the public with a highly effective vaccine, we could effectively end this pandemic in 2021 with our technology,” added Gottlieb to CNBC.
