The share price of Thonburi Healthcare Group Public Company Limited (THG) rose ฿4.00/share or 13.45% to ฿33.75/share as of 11:22 local time in Thailand, with a trading value of 339 million baht.

Dr. Boon Vanasin, Chairman of the company, gave an exclusive interview to BBC Thai on July 14, 2021, revealing that Thonburi Healthcare Group is set to ink a contract with Germany’s BioEntech vaccine factory on July 15 to import 20 million doses of Pfizer vaccine. A government agency with the authority to import vaccinations will participate in the signing as well. The name is expected to be announced following the signing.

The signing of the contract will take place today. This is the final phase in the month-long process of procuring Pfizer vaccinations.

“Only the US side has the authority to approve or deny the request for 20 million doses in the first phase,” Dr. Boon stated.

Dr. Boon indicated that the Pfizer that he plans to import is the same to the Pfizer (Thailand) Co., Ltd. that has already registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use in Thailand. As a result, the period of consideration is expected to be short. It can then be imported within one week. The vaccine will be distributed by Thonburi Hospital Group.
