It is Too Early to Draw Conclusion on Omicron Impact, Says South African Scientists

According to a Bloomberg report, South African leading scientists while answering to a lawmaker said it is too early to weigh the true impact of Omicron


South African leading scientist warned it is too early to determine if Omicron variant is a severe as the other variants, reported by Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg, during a presentations to lawmakers on Wednesday, the scientists said its yet early to draw conclusion on the true impact of the variant as it has by far affected only young people who are able to fight off pathogen. They further noted people only tend to get sick after carrying the virus for some time.

In a separate Bloomberg reported South Africa is in talks with Pfizer and merck to get access to their COVID-19 treatment pills as variant spreads across the country.

Nicholas Crisp, deputy director general in South Africa’s Department of Health said, the country wants one of them to produce the drugs in South Africa.
