CPF Takes 75% of “Lotus Aquaculture” to Penetrate Shrimp Farm Business in Sri Lanka


Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) has announced the investments in Sri Lanka. CPF (India) Pvt. Ltd., which is an indirect subsidiary of CPF holds 99%share, acquired newly issued shares of Lotus Aquaculture Lanka (Private) Ltd. (Lotus Aquaculture) in a total amount of 300,000 share or 75% with a transaction value of USD1.5 million or approximately THB47 million. After the completion of the transaction, Lotus Aquaculture will become an indirect subsidiary of CPF.

Lotus Aquaculture operates Shrimp hatchery, farm and cold storage in Sri Lanka. The investment in Lotus Aquaculture will allow CPF to enter into shrimp business in Sri Lanka the transaction due to its market potential and capabilities in shrimp farming and export opportunities.
