SET Opens 8pts Lower, Following Global Markets Over the Concern of US-Sino Trade Talk

SET opens 7.88 points or 0.48% lower to 1,653.11 points with ฿2.3 billion in value over a concern of highly unlikely trade talk between US and China before the deadline.

SET Index sinks at the opening bell after the election news comes out earlier, revealing that Thai Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha have been submitted as prime minister candidate for Thai Raksa Chart Party and Phalang Pracharat Party, respectively.

The index falls 7.88 points or 0.48% to 1,653.11 points with ฿2.3 billion in value, following Asia markets that trade lower after the plummet of Wall Street last night over a disapointment of rumors that the US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping may not have an actual meeting before the deadline in March.

NIKKEI sinks 1.63%, HSI dipped 0.72%, ASX 200 slipped 0.39%, KOSPI falls 1.21%, while SSEC gains 1.30%.

As for Wall Street, Dow Jones dropped 0.87%, S&P 500 skidded 0.94% and Nasdaq plunges 1.18%.
