Coronavirus Death Toll Passes 1,000. Meanwhile Thailand Refuses Cruise to Disembark in Laem Chabang, Chonburi.


The first coronavirus death was confirmed on January 11. Just one month later, the toll has passed 1,000.

According to the Chinese National Health Commission report, there were an addition 2,478 new cases has confirmed and 108 deaths, the total number of confirmed case increased to 42,638 cases and death toll hit 1,016 in the mainland China.

Outside of China, currently, there are 319 cases reported, by so far only two deaths has been confirmed in other countries; Hong Kong and the Philippines.

“The coronavirus outbreak completely changed the dynamics of the Chinese economy,” JPMorgan analysts said as they again downgraded forecasts for Chinese growth this quarter. The outbreak could cut as much as 1% down on Chinese full-year economic growth.

The Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited the infected patients in Beijing on Monday and Xi on Monday called the situation at Hubei province “still very grave” and “more decisive measures” to quarantine the spread of the virus, said state broadcaster CCTV.

Today in the early morning, Thailand has reports to disallow the MS Westerdam cruise ship to disembark in Laem Chabang, Chonburi. Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said in a Facebook post, “I have issued orders. Permission to disembark refused,”
