CKP Says No Impact from the Earthquake on Xayaburi and Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Plants.


CK Power Public Company Limited (CKP) has stated that following the 5.9-magnitude earthquake incident, which occurred at 04:03AM (Local Time in Thailand) on 21 November 2019 at the depth of 5 kilometers from surface with the center located 49 kilometers Northwest of Xayaburi province (19.47 N, 101.34 E), CKP has performed preliminary inspections and would like to inform that there is no impact from the earthquake to the structures and the equipment of Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant and Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant.

The two Power Plants still continue to generate the electricity to the Electricity Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and Eletricite Du Laos (EDL) as normal. The constructions of the two Hydroelectric Power Plants comply with the highest international safety standards and follow the strict regulations. However, the Company will monitor the situation and impact from the incident closely.
