Stock Markets Edge Higher as Investors Monitor Trump’s Health!

Stocks in Asia and Europe traded higher, following Trump’s minute-long video on Twitter late Sunday, saying that they (he and the First Lady) are getting great reports from the doctors.

As of 14:30 local time in Thailand (GMT+7), Nikkei rose 1.23%, HSI increased 1.46%, ASX 200 jumped 2.59% and Kospi gained 1.29%.

Meanwhile, the European stock market also opened higher as investors monitored the U.S. President Donald Trump’s condition. DAX rose 0.73%, FTSE advanced 0.78%, CAC increased 0.78% and STOXX600 hiked 0.68%.

Trump announced that he and his wife tested positive for coronavirus last Friday, triggering a selloff in fear of risk markets as the contraction by the U.S. president could affect his presidential run.

Late Sunday, Trump tweeted a minute-long video on Twitter saying that “we are getting great reports from the doctors.” Dow Jones Futures rose 135 points or 0.50% on Monday prior to its session.

However, a reort earlier stated that Trump’s doctors began treating Trump with dexamethasone, a steroid that has shown promise for critically ill patients, but may cause side effects or harm to those with less severe Covid-19 symptoms, said the doctors.
