Trump-Kim’s Meeting Finishes Early, Ending the Two-Day Summit with No Agreement

Trump and Kim cannot find a respectable agreement, ending the two-day summit with no deal.

Today is the second day of the meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam of the U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong Un. As the first day ended without any productive agreement toward denuclearization in North Korea, people hoped that the two leaders would agree on some specific terms on the second day.

Surprisingly, the meeting had ended rather quick today. According to the report from White House, both Trump and Kim failed to reach an agreement on denuclearization. In return, Kim wanted to see the removal of a U.S. nuclear umbrella for its Asian allies such as South Korea and Japan.

When asked if he was ready to give up the nuclear weapons, Kim said “If I’m not willing to do that, I won’t be here right now.”

Even though Trump and Kim were unable to reach an agreement, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said that their respective teams look forward to meeting in the future.

Whether Kim will give up all his nuclear weapons at the end or not, an appearance outside North Korea and his willingness to meet with Trump has shown that North Korea is about to change.
