CHOW’s Loss Reduces to 62Mn in 1Q21 Due to Improved Power Generation

The overall operating result for the first quarter of 2021 was a loss of Baht 62.88 million, which is better than the same period in the previous year when there was a loss of Baht 191.11 million.


Chow Steel Industries Public Company Limited (CHOW) has announced its 1Q21 consolidated financial statement through the Stock Exchange of Thailand as follows; 

The overall operating result for the first quarter of 2021 was a loss of Baht 62.88 million, which is better than the same period in the previous year when there was a loss of Baht 191.11 million. The result of better performance was mainly due to higher power generation compared to the same period last year.

 

In the first quarter of 2021, total revenue from sales and services amounted to Baht 191.6 million, a decrease of Baht 14.6 million or 7.1% from the prior year in the same period.

 

Accordingly, gross profit margin (excluding depreciation and amortization) increased from Baht 131.45 million in the first quarter of 2020 to Baht 135.92 million (equivalent to 71% of total revenue) in the current period. EBITDA margin (excluding unrealized foreign exchange gains/losses) was Baht 101.0 million in the current period, increasing by Baht 9.1 million from the prior year the same quarter (Q1 2020: Baht 91.9 million). The increase reflects the efficiency of operations and better cost control compared to the same period last year.
