BPP-RATCH Say Hongsa’s Equipment is in Safe Condition, Expecting to Recommence Soon!

BANPU-RATCH says major equipment is in a safe condition, still requiring cessation for inspection while hoping to recommence soon.

Banpu Power Public Company Limited (BPP) and Ratch Group Public Company Limited (RATCH) has made an official announcement in the afternoon regarding the Earthquake incident on 21 November 2019 at 04.03 am in Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

BPP and RATCH stated that the company has been informed by Hongsa Power Company Limited (HPC), its joint-venture company, that there were no injury or casualty reports from the incident. Due to safety precaution procedure, all the three power plant units are required to implement load reduction and temporary cessations for preliminary inspection which indicates that major equipment is in safe conditions and able to recommence operations in a short period. The engineering team at Hongsa is currently undergoing detailed inspection to ensure complete and safe operations can resume.

HPC is a joint venture between Banpu Power Limited (BPP), holding a 40% stake, RATCH Group Holding Public Company Limited (RATCH), holding a 40% stake, and Lao Holding State Enterprise (LHSE), holding 20%. The aim of this project is to develop and operate a 1,878 MW lignite mine-mouth power plant.
