Hong Kong will shut all foreign tourist and transit arrivals to the city starting from Wednesday to contain the spread of the coronavirus after a sudden increase of confirmed cases in which most of them are imported.
On March 22, 2020, cases in Hong Kong spiked by another 44 cases, 29 of them were found in persons who have travelled records to foreign countries such as Europe and America, bringing the total cases in the city to 317 cases and 4 deaths.
Chief Executive Carrie Lam stated that non-Hong Kong residents will be barred. This also includes people from mainland China, Macau and Taiwan who have travel history to foreign countries.
All pubs, bars and entertainment venues also asked from the government to be closed.
