Thailand March Imports-Exports Expands 7.25% and 4.17%, Beating Estimate of Contractions.


The Ministry of Commerce has announced that Thailand’s March exports rose 4.17% from last year, the highest in 8 months and  beating the estimate of 5.8% contraction by economists. Meanwhile, imports grew 7.25% YoY, also beating the estimate of 8% contraction.

March trade surplus was $1.592 billion while the economists forecasted at $2.753 billion.

 

The Ministry of Commerce also stated that Thailand’s exports in the first quarter of 2020 expanded 0.91%. On the other hand, imports fell 1.92% in the first quarter. In 1Q20, Thailand had a trade surplus of $3.933 billion.
