BA’s Net Loss Hikes to ฿693m from the Decline in Airline Business and High Expenses


Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited (BA) has reported its 2Q19 consolidated financial statement through the Stock Exchange of Thailand as follows:

In the second quarter of 2019, BA reported the net loss at THB 693.90 million when compared with the same period of the year was THB 82.92 million. The total revenue of BA was THB 6,077.4 million, dropped by 4.2 percent from the same period last year. The decreasing revenue was mainly from the airline business as a consequence of slow growth of international tourist arrivals to Thailand, high competitiveness among airline industry and strengthening of Thai Baht.

For this quarter, the number of passenger slightly growth at 2.3 percent while average fare dropped by 4.3 percent. Passenger yield per RPK was THB 4.04, weakened from the second quarter of 2018 by 2.5%

The operating revenue of BA for the second quarter of 2018 and 2019 was THB 5,763.0 million and THB 5,645.9 million respectively, decreased by 2.0 % while total expenses increased from THB 6,175.5 million to THB 6,607.4 million or 7.0%.
