INTUCH Reports a Net Profit of ฿2.98Bn in 2Q, Offering a Dividend at ฿1.15!

Intouch Holdings Public Company Limited (INTUCH) has reported its 2Q20 consolidated financial statement through the Stock Exchange of Thailand as follows;

In 2Q20, INTUCH reported a net profit of 2,980 million baht, increased 1.35% from a net profit of 2,940 million baht in 2Q19. The increase was mainly due to a higher contribution from the satellite & international business, as a result of the share of compensation included in other income totaling 621 million baht (after a prepaid expense was written off).

In addition, the contribution from the local wireless telecommunication business rose QoQ due to a foreign exchange gain, compared to a loss in 1Q20. However, the contribution was lower than 2Q19due to a drop in revenue and a rise in depreciation & amortization, although this was partially offset by a decrease in network OPEX and the cost of the TOT partnership, even though SG&A declined.

INTUCH’s net expense declined 23% from 2Q19, when the additional provision for the past service costs of employees was recognized in accordance with the new Labor Protection Act. However, expenses increased 6% QoQ due to CSR activities, namely donations to 85 hospitals in 28 provinces to alleviate suffering during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The share of the net results from AIS Group decreased 8% from 2Q19, mainly due to lower sales and service revenue in the mobile business, which was partially offset by an increase in fixed-broadband revenue as a result of the COVID-19 situation. Moreover, finance costs increased after adoption of TFRS 16, although distribution costs & administrative expenses dropped, mainly due to fewer promotional campaigns and lower shop rental during the nationwide shutdown. Sales and service costs dropped slightly from the decrease in network OPEX and the cost of the TOT partnership.

THCOM’s net results in 2Q20 was 498 million baht, increased from a net loss of 135 million baht in 2Q19. The increase was mainly due to the recognition of the compensation income, together with the decrease of depreciation from Thaicom 5 satellite de-orbit and the impairment of other satellites in 2019.

In addition, the Board of Directors of INTUCH approved a dividend payment of THB 1.15 per share to be paid on September 4, 2020. The ex-dividend date is on August 24, 2020.
